New website up and running

he World Wide Web is the most important communication  to the outside world. To show that you are there seems to be the motto of this century. And staying up to date is even more important. We try to keep this site as current as possible to keep you informed of our activities.

To stay in this fast lane we also upgraded the feel and look of the site. We thought is was time for a new design and as the proverb says: Variety is the spice of life (how appropriate in the case of Bangers & Mash!). Everything has become well-organized and much faster.

Please share your experiences with the new website with us so we can consider them and maybe we can meet with your wishes.

Benefit for the children from Chernobyl on June 18

hernobyl 1986, april 25: A huge nuclear disaster!
Who doesn't remember?

But who realises the consequenses of it nowadays? What if you (have to) live day in day out in a heavy radioactive contaminated environment without hopes for a better future? Where criminality is an every day business and where drinking and drug problems are no exceptions. An environment with no more human dignity and forgotten by the rest of the world.

Fortunately a group of dedicated people, united in the Chernobyl Children Support Mission (CCSM), does  concern about the children of Chernobyl. With the inspiring guidance of chairwoman Anja Kendall they offer help to the afflicted children, to problem families and to the village of Pravdinsk in Belarus.
Every year holiday camps are organized in The netherlands, Belgium and Germany to give some healthy breathing space to a number of children. By feeding them with healthy, not contaminated food and letting them breath clean air the radioactivity in their bodies is reduced and gives them at the same time an opportunity to get acquainted with a different world. A world where our common every things are  a gift from heaven to them.

This year new holiday camps have been organized again. To help getting these projects financed  abenefit is set up on 2005 June 18 in the Odulphus Hoeve (scouting log cabin) at the Eindhovensedijk 11, 5688 GN in Oirschot, The Netherlands.
For an amount of € 20,- (children € 5,-) they will treat you with a nice evening with a 3 course diner, a nice glass of wine and music at the campfire by the children and Bangers & Mash.
We are looking forward to it. are you coming, too?

For reservations please contact Anja or Pete Kendall; you can send an e-mailto ccsm@chello.nl or call +31 13 509 29 91.

If you want to support the good work of the CCSM, please visit their website at www.chernobyl-children.nl, where you will find all the information you need.

We count on you!

Bangers & Mash to Switserland

Bhortly we will be flying
to Switserland for to concerts in the capital, Zürich. At the end of next month we will grace a grand employees party of computer giant HP.

The fact that they have choosen for Bangers & Mash for the musical setting of this evening isn't that strange. HP was looking for the best and yet affordable Irish folkband on the European continent and that's how you very soon end up at our website. We feel very honoured by this invitation of this huge international company and of course we didn't have to consider the acception of this unique opportunity for very long; the plans were made rapidly.

On friday morning May 27 we leave fromSchiphol Airport with a KLM scheduled flight straight to Zürich, where employees of HP will pick us up. Transportation and accomodation are being taken care of from Switserland. “Fortunately we don't have to bring our own sound system.” B&M’s leadzanger en “technical director” Lowie prefers to use the band's own sound system but in this case it would bring a lot of inconveniances. “Besides it is great in such a hectic short time span to not having to transport the gear yourself. We only have to carry our musical instruments. Driving up to the Alps yourself by van was no option to us; it takes too long and therefore is too risky. Now we can completely focus on the performance and we will be fit and relaxed on stage” says Lowie.

To make as big a use of this short time in Switserland as possible we decided to get in touch with some of the many folkclubs in Zürich to do another concert on Saturday evening.
On Sunday May 29 we hope to return to Schiphol Airport again.
